Wow, T.Hawk projected as strong? That's scary and surprising.

Where's Sir Dudley of Boxington looking to land? I know it's all random theory but a rough idea? And whoo hoo Yang so high. If I play I know who I'd play already.

bear in mind..this is one guys opinion. and the game isn't even 2 weeks old yet. i'm sure there will be more solid stuff once it gets closer to US release.

Duds will probably be solid mid tier again. I don't think people realize how bonkers duds damage can be, his ex ducking upper hits like a truck. If he gets like an anti air jab uppercut, he can do like to to ex ducking uppers into ultra for insane damage. He'll still have tough match ups but he's a pressure monster in the corner

Hawk is looking so good because he's been sped up considerably. His condor spire is now super fast along with his walk speed are much faster now

Duds got only buffs for Ultra. They buffed a lot of his weak points like you mentioned Recon. Shotos could pretty much beat him with c.mk and so they gave him some tools to be a little more scary in mid range.

His biggest issue was his hitboxes. So he'd trade or lose a lot from mid-range. Smug was super happy with the hitbox changes so I can only assume they addressed his biggest weakness. Him having a slow low game is definitely a weak point in his game, but we can't have it all. He does insane damage and stun off of high/low/throw mixups at close range.

he prefers a game he's been playing for years to one he's been playing for 10 days. no surprise there. I could see the "did he delay get up or not" thing being an issue in the beginning but players will adjust. I prefer the game slowing down a bit to the vortext characters destroy everything AE model. Guess we will have to wait and see.

If you read what guys like kim1234 are saying they like the new version. Basically it comes down to this.

Did you play a vortex type character? I don't like new version
Did you play a zoner or a charge character? I like this new version

what do people want? Do they want to die to unblockables and 100% safe ridiculous 25/25/25/25 setups? Or do they want to die because someone is blowing them up in the neutral game. Haters in both areas but it really depends on the style you play.

From an outside perspective with only some experience with the more recent vortex game, I thought Vortex was bs lol. It forced too much of a guessing game imo. Guessing is important to fighters of all types, but when it becomes the whole round after a knockdown, I don't enjoy that.

This change sounds -great- to me. SF excels at providing a game for footsies and neutral to be important, and this just encourages that play even more.

I think the difference is that most newer players prefer set play and getting rewarded for the knockdown. A lot of the older players prefer a more footsie oriented game.

I don't think delayed wake up is gonna make the game sfxt, but I do see the game being slowed down and losing some sense of urgency. I like the change wao mentioned about making throws doing more damage though.

I don't think vortex and unblockables added any urgency. They just made me think, "Fuck, now I have to guess right. Again. Again. Again."

Your reward for getting the knockdown should be keeping momentum and forcing your opponent to make a read. That read shouldn't so often lead to the same situation after every knockdown.

    Delayed wakeup ftw.

I do think throws could do more damage.

I'm on the fence about it. I actually play a better mid ranged character and I'm still ify lol. I do agree on the vortex thing needing to be taken out.

I can see where Wao is coming from. Knowing you can die from one knockdown definitely makes neutral feel more tense and forces you to play differently. I felt that going from P4A to BB. BB neutral isn't as scary because I know I can make a mistake and not die from it. Not necessarily a good or bad thing but it is something that is noticeable.

I think the skill gap will actually increase even more. Good players with a good understanding of fundamentals, spacing, frame traps, mix ups etc will dominate even more because they understand the game at a deeper level.

Newer players who got away with heavy vortex mixups will struggle for a while and have to go back and learn the game the way it was intentionally created.

My only hope is that it doesn't slow the momentum of the game down too much.Watching people waddle back and forth in the neutral game 30 seconds at time isn't the most exciting thing to watch or to play against. I do think vortex was too strong however.

both of these are amazing. especially the offline battle log. Any tournament you can always find a match you wanted. "did you guys miss that epic match between Gnarr and Roogle?" no need to worry it's there.

I agree. I am super pumped on the offline record feature. And you can upload directly to Youtube! I think this is a great way to improve gatherings. You can record a ft10 between 2 players then let everyone else watch.

Also, Hugo U2 is really good. Caught dhalsim half screen backdash?!? gg. That means bad news for cammy, akuma, yun/yang, honda with stop sign, probably dive kick characters in general. I still think he will get wrecked to good zoners though. It will require one patient person to be a character specialist with him. Certainly not I.

I really don't understand why they released the game in japan when a new version comes out next month and from what everyone is saying, the balance will change from the arcade to console version. The location tests are all reporting that things are different from the arcade to the console. Anyways. 1 more month....
